Dennilton Community Makeover (5000 e-balls required!)

To give this initiative some context; within a failing education system, at a time where unemployment in the region is
in the region of 90% and the number of people depending on government grants for a meager existence continues
to grow.

This community makeover is shaping up into one of the most heartfelt, exciting, life-changing adventures for 2020
Imagine – a community where the people are mostly unemployed and illiterate with families living well below the
poverty line.

In spite of the obstacles of a flawed education system, the parents and community have banded together to achieve
the impossible.

They have privately funded the building of a school for their children on 5 hectares of land – a school that is already
head and shoulders above others in the region.

The buildings are up, the teachers are teaching, and most importantly the children are enthusiastically learning as
they soakWe’re going to integrate a world class, community eco-education farm on the 5 hectare property: up the

Earth Ambassador is partnering with this “dirt-poor” community that is already doing it for themselves.
With just a little help from us they are well on the way to delivering a full community eco-education farm

Together, the Dennilton community and Earth Ambassador are going to do things differently. We are making it
possible for this school to provide not only for the children of the school, but also for the parents and the
surrounding community. The school is going to become a community asset in every respect; the start to a positive
change that most people/government are just talking about.

Community Eco-Education Farm

We’re going to create and integrate a world class, community eco-education farm on the 5 hectare property, here’s
the plan for the community eco-education farm (click to enlarge):

Aquaponic greenhouse (1000 e-balls)

WhereThe existing subsistence veggie garden will be transformed into an aquaponic greenhouse which will produce;

Biogas digester (75 e-balls)

Our objective is ZERO discharge; everything that comes into our system will either be repurposed, recycled or converted to energy.

The waste from the ablution block, aquaponics and poultry farm will drive the biogas digester producing;

  • Heat for the gas geysers so the children can have hot showers
  • Heating for the chickens in winter and to maintain the aquaponic systems temperature
  • Cooking gas for the kitchen

Where we are going

Workshop and technical training centre

For many, this may become the most utilised training facility on campus. During the renovations and upgrades the workshop will be the hub of operations. Once completed it will become the primary maintenance facility and a living, technical training centre for the community and the learners

  •  for farming practices ranging from aquaculture to poultry to soil based farming methodology
  • for welding and basic motor mechanics; the community and learners will see, experience and learn about the day to day skills that are required to maintain equipment and infrastructure.

Community kitchen and school tuck shop (500 e-balls)

A school kitchen and tuck shop with a difference; for all intent and purpose this kitchen will continue to be run by the parents. The produce from the farm will be augmented by the home economics bakery.

  • A fully-fledged home economics centre for educational purposes; for parents and learners
  • That Feeds the children
  • A community veggie market

Without water we have nothing! We are going to makeover the current borehole site which has the capacity to produce enough water for all of the above. However this is a dry region and we will augment the borehole capacity by storing run-off rain water.  – Sponsor 10 e-balls and we have another tank!
